Articles / Medicare Part D is important, but don't neglect other insurances
12/07/2005
Senior citizens are having a difficult time sorting out the details of Medicare Part D because of the many variations in rules and benefits from state to state and company to company. There is a period of grace until May 15th 2006 to select the plan that best suits the individual's needs before any penalties start to accrue but a decision needs to be made soon.
There are however other insurances to be taken care of as well and if they are neglected, it could cause great hardship for loved ones who would be left to handle heavy financial burdens. While attention must therefore be given to Medicare part D, the other obligations also need attention.
At this time of the year, when families get together for the holidays, our hearts and minds are filled with things like what presents to buy, how to bring the family together, and all the other happy holiday thoughts. What better gift to give ones' loved ones than peace of mind, knowing that if something happened to their much loved Husband, Dad or Granddad they would not be threatened with a large financial burden. That peace of mind could be the best present of all.
"Particularly senior citizens need to take care not to neglect the other vital insurance services available to them" said David Thau, CEO and founder of 'Keep It Simple Insurance' in California. "Whether it is Life Insurance, Final Expense Insurance, Dental Insurance or Individual and Family Health Insurance, neglect of any one of these while sorting out which Medicare Part D to participate in, could create immense problems. My advice is 'don’t do it' and speak to your agent or broker about developing a balanced insurance portfolio as soon as possible."
While one is feeling healthy, it is a common fault to ignore the need for insurance and the complexities of understanding all the variations available on the market make it even more difficult to confront. However, without it, either the individual or his /her loved ones could suffer great hardship. So, by all means handle your Medicare Part D requirements, but don't neglect the other vitally important insurances for all round peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
